Candice Herriott Townsend
Candice Herriott Townsend is a food writer and photographer who began in the food and beverage industry when she started the CHSFoodWriter food blog and social media handle. In 2018, Candice wrote, photographed, and published her first mass-market book, Provisions To Plate: A Charleston Seasonal Collective. In the same vein as the Something ELSE About Food: The Podcast, the book shares the stories and recipes of 20 chefs, farmers and fishermen in and around Charleston, SC. She spent an entire year photo-documenting each farm, building relationships in the community, and working closely with each contributor to weave a story illustrating the look, feel and taste of the Lowcountry throughout each season of the year. Her platform’s purpose is to shine light on amazing places and the deserving, fantastic people that elevate them to noteworthy status.
Candice locally works with Fox 24 Charleston to produce and deliver a monthly on-air segment centered on seasonal highlights in the food community, upcoming events, or topic-focused series aimed at viewer education on home cooking. She has been apart of the of the Charleston Wine + Food Festival social media team for three years and hosts many of their bi-weekly Facebook Live video segments promoting the festival in the off-season, as well as daily live coverage during the 5-day festival. For three years, she has contributed monthly to the Skirt Magazine blog, and has been featured in several major regional publications in the Southeast. Candice is also contracted as a content creator, media coach and marketing strategist for businesses in need of unique food-centered marketing, social media promotion, and brand growth. Candice is also a frequent panelist and educational speaker at events hosted in Charleston, the region and nationally. She has been a guest on food-focused podcasts, and featured in promotional material for brands and locations she supports. She is passionate about promoting the talent of people who make, grow and harvest exceptional things and is deeply connected to the local community, raising awareness for local challenges facing producers and advocating on their behalf to the food and beverage industry.
